Meet The Artist

Bianca Palazzi

Meet Bianca Palazzi, freelance illustrator and art teacher!

Describe what you do: I love using collage, print and digital techniques to create my work for both adults and children (and sometimes for myself).

Where do you live? Where do you work? I have always lived in South East London. It’s full of so many creative pockets of areas and people, which I’m constantly inspired by. I’m also surrounded by lots of green spaces, which is so rare for living in a city! When I’m not teaching, I mostly work from home but I’m lucky to be able to work from anywhere as I’ve got my ipad on me.

Describe a typical day for you: I always start my day with a big breakfast and some form of movement. I find it helps me to manage my stress and productivity levels for the rest of the day. When I’m working on a freelance project, no day looks the same. I’m constantly learning how to manage my time and create better boundaries. Some days I’ll sit in one spot and work into the night. Other days I find it harder. Usually, when I’m stuck for ideas, I will get out my paper and make a collage or a card for someone I know. In some way, it really helps me with whatever project I’m working on and brings up new ideas without any pressure.

Name a book that you read recently and loved: I recently re-read ‘Sorrow and Bliss’ and ‘Notes on Heartbreak’. I love the candid and honest writing styles in both books, which feels so accessible and relatable. I think I love books the most when they feel like a conversation with a close friend.

Favorite snack: I’m a massive sweet tooth so usually anything that’s covered in chocolate! But recently, I’ve been loving a huge bag of salty crisps dipped into a pot of hummus. Especially in the Summer, when it’s still warm at night, in the park with my friends.

Favorite color combination: Ooooh this changes often, but I’ll always resort back to orange and pink if I’m unsure of what colours to use.
