Describe what you do: I’m a graphic designer, illustrator, author and a mom!
Where do you live? Where do you work? We recently moved to Utah and are renovating a home in the foothills of the Wasatch mountains…right outside Sundance if you’re familiar! I work in my home office. When we moved, my husband made it a priority to find a home with a great office space for me. Up until now, my office has been next to the bed or in our front room without a door. Having my own space to curate and create freely on my own has been a welcome change! And also help foster more creativity.
Describe a typical day for you: I get up and exercise! Make breakfast with my husband for the kids, school drop off, then work! I generally work in the mornings, so I can be with my kids after school. We like to explore the mountains, but also just like to have cozy days at home snuggling and watching our favorite shows.
Name a book that you read recently and loved: Dear Ijeawele, or A Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie - it’s a short but powerful read.
Favorite snack: French fries!!!
Favorite color combination: red and blue
What is your most treasured possession? My kids - does that count? :) If not, I’d say our big photobooth frame. When my husband and I got married we started finding photobooths everywhere we traveled. We kept the tradition going and recently framed 10 years of photobooths! It’s such a family treasure.
What is the best piece of advice someone ever gave you? Not to follow advice! It was in reference to motherhood. As a new mom, I was always second guessing myself and my abilities. And a friend said kindly, you don’t need to do what others are doing - you know your daughter better than anyone…so do what’s best for you and her. Honestly, once I stopped reading parent help and baby sleeping books and just going with the flow as a parent, she and I thrived.
