How big are Biquette Scarves?
Our kids' knit scarves are 6 by 50 inches, perfectly sized for young ones without extra length to trip over while our adults' knit scarves are 10 by 80 inches, so they're long enough to stylishly wrap.
What makes wool different than cotton?
Wool is naturally insulating, making it warmer than cotton for its weight. Additionally, wool fibers better trap air, giving it a lighter, springier feel, while cotton tends to have a smoother texture and heavier drape. Both are very breathable, but wool is especially good at regulating temperature and managing moisture in relation to the weight of the knit.
We go a step further and use extra-fine Merino wool to prevent the common itch associated with wool for a more premium, soft feel while retaining the same heat and comfort qualities.
What's special about extra-fine Merino wool?
Not all wool feels the same. In particular, we use extra-fine merino wool which has a thinner, more flexible fiber than traditional coarse wool, making it noticeably softer against the skin. Our merino measures just 19.5 microns in diameter, giving our blankets warmth and natural loft without the roughness and heavy weight often associated with thick wool blankets.
We go through each of the fiber differences (cotton vs. wool vs. synthetics), how Biquette uses these premium fibers, and what that means for you in both luxurious knit blankets and scarves: https://biquette.com/blogs/journal/best-fibers-for-knit-blankets
What's the difference between cotton and merino wool scarves?
Cotton has a smoother, more substantial drape and tends to feel cooler against the skin. On the other hand, extra-fine Merino wool is a more insulating yet lightweight alternative. Cotton works well for everyday layering, while merino is particularly suited to colder weather without feeling too heavy.
Who designs the patterns?
Our knit designs are intentionally curated and created in collaboration with independent artists, so each piece is an original work you won't find anywhere else.
